Strip Journaling:

We arrived in the tiny port town of Whittier, the embarkation point of our seven day cruise. Since the ship did not leave port until late in the day, we had reserved a spot on the 6-hour glacier cruise…and it couldn’t have been a more beautiful day.

Clear blue sky, sunshine, and cool, crisp temperatures…

We cruised the spectacular Esther Passage, got a unique view of a working salmon hatchery, saw towering glaciers in Harriman Fjord and Barry Arm, enjoyed varied and plentiful wildlife, as well as a mouth-watering Alaskan King Crab cake lunch.

A stop at majestic Surprise Glacier was in itself worth the price as we all watched and waited for the calving. We were not disappointed as white thunder echoed through the fjord following one of nature‘s most brilliant shows!
